About the distillery
The history of Johnnie Walker is fascinating. In 1820 John Walker opened a grocery shop within Kilmarnock where he stocked single malts. Due to inconsistency within the single malts John began blending his own creating a great tasting whisky that was consistent. The business John started was thriving and after his death in 1857 his son Alexander was left the business. In 1867 he created the brand label. In 1908 the striding man was added to the label and the beginning of Johnnie Walker Red & Black label was born. Today Johnnie Walker, a globally known and sold whisky is the biggest whisky brand in the world.
