About the distillery

Founded by Paul Jones Jr in 1888 Four Roses production and sales dated back to the 1860’s. In 1922 Paul purchased the Frankfort Distilling Company during the prohibition. The brand grew drastically and was considered the top selling bourbon from the 30’s-50. Drinks giant Seagrams acquired the distillery and the Four Roses brand in 1943 and took the odd decision to cease the sale of Four Roses in the US and produce to sell within the European and Asian markets where it rapidly climbed to becoming once again the top selling bourbon brand which still stands today. In 1995 legendary master distiller Jim Rutledge was appointed to the Four Roses where he set his goal in bringing Four Roses back to the US market. In 2002 Kirin Brewing Company Ltd. purchased the Four Roses Brand where they renamed the distillery Four Roses. Four Roses Distillery once again produced to the US markets. Today is once again considered one of the top bourbons on the US market.
