About the distillery

Bowmore Distillery, Region Islay, located on the Isle Of Islay was founded in 1779 although there is no evidence of Whisky being produced until 1816 when John Simpson acquired a license. In 1837 Wm & Jas. Mutter a blending firm from Glasgow purchased the distillery where they began to build a reputation. The distillery did change hands on a number of occasions where it was eventually acquired by Stanley p. Morrison where he built a huge reputation with the Bowmore distillery. In 1989 Japanese giant Suntory purchased a steak in the Distillery where in 1994 obtained full ownership. Bowmore is one the most recognised and collectable Whisky in the World.
