About the distillery

Lochlea Distillery, Region Lowlands was founded in 2014 by Neil McGeoch after he was granted planning permission to convert existing buildings on the 222 acer farm he purchased in 2006 into a distillery. The barley used is grown on the farm & the water source is also within the lands of the farm. Construction of the distillery began in 2017 with the first casks filled in 2018. The Farm itself hosts a unique past with it once being in ownership of the Burns family where Robert Burns himself worked for some years. Neil decided to approach the marketing and broadcasting aspects in a different way, in other words he neither marketed or broadcasted the distillery construction and kept it as silent as possible to allow Lochlea to focus on the produced liquid. The distillery released its first whisky on 25th January 2021 (Burns Night).
